Glass and Plastic detail

Our June exhibits, “Reflections” and Michael McSorley’s “Collections of Perceptions,” close this Sunday, July 1. Have you been by the gallery yet?

“Collections of Perceptions”

Oil painter Michael McSorley brought together the unexpected, the ordinary, and the unassuming through carefully constructed three-dimensional assemblages in his solo exhibit, “Collections of Perceptions.”  McSorley artfully merged fine art with carpentry through his masterfully painted and expertly crafted assemblages. He painted a collection of individual still lifes, portraits, and scenes and then explored the relationships between his chosen items – grouping them aesthetically and conceptually.

“Reflections”

In our monthly exhibit, Ron Colbroth’s award-winning photograph of a sailboat crisply mirrored in the calm, blue waters of Southern Portugal is the very definition of “reflection.” June “Reflections” juror Carlton Fletcher said that the award-winning pieces needed to “read from across the room, and then reward you for coming in for a closer look. That is what I call graphic power.

Check out the Juror’s Dialogue and our full Q&A with Colbroth.

Artist Abol Bahadori received the Anne Banks Award for Mixed Media/Collage for his piece, Reverie. “My own interpretation is that this [painting] is somehow about reversing the destruction of the nature by man—a dream or “reverie” we all share.”
